TypeSmart ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data. TypeSmart is operated as a single-person project based in the United States.
Data stored locally on your device (localStorage): TypeSmart stores your typing progress, WPM history, accuracy stats, game scores, lesson progress, settings preferences, and practice session history entirely in your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
Subscription data: If you subscribe to TypeSmart Pro, your payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card details. We receive a confirmation token from Stripe to verify your subscription status, which is stored in your browser's localStorage.
Contact form submissions: If you contact us via the contact form or by email, we collect your name, email address, and message content solely to respond to your inquiry.
Analytics: We use basic web analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns (page views, visitor counts). This data is anonymized and not linked to individual users.
We do not collect, store, or transmit: your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information unless you explicitly provide it via the contact form or Pro subscription. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising pixels, or behavioral tracking of any kind.
If you use the Document Upload feature in Pro Trainer, your uploaded files (.txt, .pdf, .docx) are processed entirely in your browser using client-side JavaScript. Your document content is never uploaded to our servers and is not transmitted over the internet. It exists only in your browser's memory during your session.
When you use the Pro Trainer's AI generation feature, your selected topic, specialty, format, and difficulty level are sent to Anthropic's Claude API via a secure serverless function to generate typing practice content. No personally identifiable information is included in these requests. Please review Anthropic's Privacy Policy for details on how they handle API requests.
TypeSmart uses the following third-party services:
TypeSmart does not use cookies. All user data is stored in browser localStorage, which is local to your device and not accessible by third parties.
TypeSmart is a general-audience typing tool suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, please contact us at [email protected] and we will promptly delete it.
If you are located in the European Union or California, you have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold about you. Since TypeSmart stores nearly all data locally on your device, you can delete it at any time by clearing your browser's localStorage or using the "Reset All Progress" option in Settings.
To request deletion of any data we may hold (e.g. from a contact form submission or subscription), email [email protected] with your account email and request. We will respond within 30 days.
We take reasonable measures to protect any data transmitted to our services. All connections to TypeSmart are encrypted via HTTPS. Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe and is never processed through our own servers.
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of TypeSmart after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
